Owner : Public Works and Government Services Canada
Completion Date : 2004 - 2005
Amount : $ 800,000.
This project was undertaken in partnership with Decarel Inc. Spanning more than 30,000 square feet, the design included 8,000 square feet of accessible terrace on which Groupe Lefebvre created an in-house sustainable filtration system by incorporating two wetland features through which vegetation serves to filter the building’s greywaters.
Groupe Lefebvre has also successfully waterproofed the following :
- Foundation walls with bituminous membranes and bentonite
- Access ramp with an elastomeric membrane
- Oil reservoir with an epoxy coating
- Rooftop pond with a cementitious membrane
In addition, a lightweight layer of special soil mix was applied to the insulated, waterproofed rooftop terrace in order to facilitate the application of seeding, specially adapted for roofs.
Well on its way to receiving official accreditation, this project is also a prime candidate for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certification, the first in its class in Quebec.
